Complete replacement of legacy core switches with a fully resilient and scalable Extreme Networks solution.

Following the successful server migration project in 2022, ONE Multi Academies Trust again partnered with Meta Eagle to address the next stage of their digital infrastructure modernisation — the replacement of ageing Cisco 4500E-series core switches across The Khalsa Academy Wolverhampton (TKAW) and The Atam Academy Romford (ATAM). The Trust’s legacy core switches were end-of-life, creating operational risk and limiting network scalability. Meta Eagle was tasked with designing and implementing a new, highly available core architecture using Extreme 5520 switches. This required detailed analysis of all existing network configurations — including VLANs, subnetting, routing, and uplink topology — to ensure a seamless transition with no disruption to the wider network environment. As part of the solution, redundant 10Gb uplinks were provisioned between switches, cabinets, and sites to ensure full resilience and fault tolerance. The implementation also included stacked configurations for enhanced redundancy and simplified management, ensuring business continuity even in the event of hardware failure. Meta Eagle provided end-to-end delivery — from network design and planning through to configuration, installation, and post-deployment support — ensuring the Trust’s core infrastructure was not only modernised but also future-ready.
