Following the COVID-19 pandemic, Fox Excel — a well-known bar and corporate events venue beside London’s ExCeL Centre — was preparing to reopen its doors. During the pandemic, the venue had temporarily operated as a Tesco Express to support NHS staff and visitors to the nearby Nightingale Hospital. As it transitioned back to a hospitality venue, the client identified the need for a modern, stable, and high-performance network to support both guest Wi-Fi and corporate functions. The previous IT setup, inherited from another provider, relied on outdated Netgear switches, DrayTek routers, and ageing Cisco access points. Connectivity was unreliable, and the internal cabling infrastructure was deteriorating. Meta Eagle was commissioned to completely rebuild the network — from cabling to configuration — delivering a system that could provide robust, secure connectivity with centralised management and future scalability.

The works included: Replacement of legacy networking hardware with a full Cisco Meraki stack, providing unified management, security, and visibility. Full re-cabling of the venue using new CAT6 infrastructure to replace failing CAT5 cabling. Configuration and deployment of new firewalls, switches, and wireless access points to ensure end-to-end performance. Commissioning of a 100 Mbps leased line, replacing the venue’s previous ADSL circuit to guarantee stable, high-speed connectivity. The result was a fully modernised network delivering exceptional reliability, coverage, and security. The upgrade enabled Fox Excel to reopen as a connected, customer-ready venue — supporting both hospitality guests and corporate clients with seamless connectivity. Meta Eagle continues to support Fox Excel with proactive network management, ensuring its London Docklands venue remains connected, secure, and ready to serve customers and corporate clients alike.
